An Orange County man surrendered to law enforcement officials after a four-hour standoff with police, according to a recent article by local ABC news affiliate KABC-TV. The man was a suspect in a murder investigation involving the death of his wife.
The man hid inside his locked pickup truck for four hours and threatened to commit suicide rather than surrender to the police officers surrounding his truck, according to the Santa Ana police. The local SWAT team was also called to the scene. The man had a gun, but did not shoot at police, nor did he shoot himself as he claimed he would. Eventually, the man agreed to come out of the pickup truck.
Police arrested the man because they suspected he had murdered his wife earlier that week. The couple had recently separated, and the wife had been found shot several times in her Santa Ana home. She was taken to the hospital and placed on life support but succumbed to her injuries earlier during the day of the standoff.
